Go Viv!

A huge crowd gathered today at the L.A. Swim Stadium to watch Viveka rip it up. Great performance in the freestyle and breast stroke. She probably rocked the relay too but we had to split early.

I’d like to call your attention to Miss Viv in lane 6 for the freestyle (note how I brilliantly captured her wake in the 4th photo below, thank you) and lane 2 for the breast stroke. Exciting competition.

Next time I’m pining for humiliation, I’ll challenge Viveka to a water race.

And next year, out of concern for our youth, I propose the fans swim while the swimmers soak up some healthy rays on the metal bleachers. Just a thought.

We have higos coming out our ears! Made a great fig jam with lemon and toasted sesame seeds -- killer with crackers and manchego (even blue) cheese... and heavenly in a grilled cheese with brie (so blissful I forgot to take photos). On the savory side, haven't had much luck finding recipes, so we're experimenting. At bottom is a divine lemon-blueberry buckle (so named because it makes you buckle at the knees and beg for more).
